Solar Filament Eruptions as Precursors to Flare–CME Events: Establishing the Temporal Connection

A study of 33 eruptive solar filament events indicates that eruptive filaments can be considered precursors to solar flares, and coronal mass ejections usually occur within 2 hours of the start time of the filament eruption.
